Well after a loud crunch and a triple A tow its had it.
The rear end broke, loud crunch, oil coming from pumpkin.
Transmission still works fine, axle spins etc.
Before I take to collins bros for a re gear (1500ish). Does anyone know anybody that works on them cheaper?
I can have it fixed for 800-1000 using same rear end as it has now. Its lifted and has big tires so I think re gearing is the way to go. Lost a bunch of pep when I did the mods.
Thanks for yalls time.

I'm guessing you have the anemic Dana 35 rear end? If so, look into a Ford 8.8 from the Explorers, much stronger then stock. If you still want to fix the factory rear, then you will also have to regear the front to match. Last time I talked to CB they wanted about $1500 per axle for a re gear.

Red River in McKinney can get you set up, I would avoid Collins just for the fact that you will be paying for the name.
You could also find a replacement axle on Craigslist or at the junkyard and do it yourself in a day to save some cash

If you want to regear, I have a Dana 35 rear end with 4.56s in it that will bolt in. I'll sell it to you for $400.
$1500 per axle is stupid expensive. I'd take it somewhere else for sure.
Have you popped the cover to see what broke for sure?

I'm guessing you have the anemic Dana 35 rear end? If so, look into a Ford 8.8 from the Explorers, much stronger then stock. If you still want to fix the factory rear, then you will also have to regear the front to match. Last time I talked to CB they wanted about $1500 per axle for a re gear. Will those fords bolt in pretty easy? Thanks

I would jump on the deal with Dustin, you probably couldn't buy the new gears and master install kit for $400

Will those fords bolt in pretty easy? Thanks NO. It requires extensive work, but Artec makes a kit that is very nice, comes with truss and everything needed. You would need to find a welder, Ramball could do it, just need to weld the axle tubes to the diff, then have the truss welded on. I figure if your spending $1500 then it would be a viable option. You can find the 8.8 with 4.11 gears and LSD complete with disc brakes for $200-300.

Try Baertrax in Dallas for the axle rehearing or swap.
The 8.8 is a good option and can net you rear disc brakes and a stronger axle, but you'll need the coil cups and link brackets welded on and perhaps have the driveshaft lengthen/shortened. Another option would be to search for a TJ Dana 44 axle. It's stronger and will bolt in.

If you do anything other than fix your original, make sure whatever ratio you put in the back, matches what you have in the front.
I'd pull the cover and confirm what let loose before I did anything.

Find a salvage yard that lets you pull your own parts. pull a part is one. Swap it out.

What gears are in it now?
I'd go to the junkyard and pull an axle. You can get one for $200 or less most likely. You might be able to find a d44 out of a wrangler which would bolt right in, I'd upgrade the d35 for certain especially since you already broke one. Or if you or you know someone that can weld you can get an 8.8 with 4.10s and disk brakes in there fairly easily. A chryco 8.25 out of a cherokee would also be an option but you'd only get 3.55s out of an auto cherokee or 3.07s out of a manual. I paid $150/axle for my re-gear and I supplied the parts.

And being late in this thread, I'll give you a 35c that came out of a 98 XJ if you still need something to put in your Jeep. You pick up. Westside of Fort Worth.
