Hey guys, I am sure I am going to get some mixed feelings on this one but I cant decide on which new scope to purchase. Let me know your thoughts on the three.
I am looking at getting one of the three. Pro and cons would be appreciated
1. Nikon Monarch 3 in 4-16 X 42 2. Vortex Viper HS in 4-16 x 50 3. Ziess Terra 4-12 X 42
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

I've heard good things about Vortex but never used one. Are they relatively new or just growing in notoriety? Any others I should consider in the $400 price range?

Vortex! the Terra is very good up to 6X but if your looking at a 4X12 I'm assuming you want to use the higher powers. I have a Terra 2X7 which works well for how I use a scope which is to set it on low power and only crank it up for long shots.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Zeiss. No question. At first and last light, worth every penny and that's when it counts for mature deer.

From your list, I'd go with Vortex. That said, I'd rather have a Leupold VX3.
The only Nikon scope I ever bought was the Monarch 4-16. It died. The only good news there is that I didn't like it that much anyway and was able to swap it out (where I bought it) for a Leupold 6-18 VX2. And that's how I learned I'd rather have a VX3 (I already had several). The VX2 is fine, but the VX3 is noticeably better. I believe that the Vortex Viper is a bit better than the VX2. That's just my opinion.
