I have a cabin with electricity but water is only a rain collection system. (ground is sold rock)
The wife and kids are wanting an inside toilet and shower.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to get a shower and toilet set up?
I was thinking run off from the shower I would be ok plumbing to run off onto the ground.
Maybe an above ground 55 gallon septic tank (since solid rock ground) but not sure about this.

Tell the wife and kids they need to learn to use an outhouse.

Nope.....we have a selection of cold and cold running water. I am sure one could be installed but I haven't done it yet.

http://www.thetford.com/HOME/PRODUCTS/PortableToilets/tabid/83/Default.aspxA 32" fiberglass shower stall from Home depot An on demand pump for your water pressure A on demand propane water heater If you got sure-nuff grid lectricity, you got it whipped anyways. You can use a small electric water heater, especially with lime free rainwater. Maybe $500 for everything and its a game changer buddy! My hunting cabin is a Wells Cargo insulated toy hauler with RV door and windows. A real shower, Thetford toilet, a real mattress, easy chair, and table. Its so durable and comfortable year after year, I pity those who use anything other.

Ok I think I've got the shower down. How about the toilet Are the incinerator style toilets worth the try Or running a 55 gallon drum on top of ground, will it work

we just built a cabin and we are finishing out the inside with a 32" shower, poopy shooter and small vanity. this will fit in a 4X8 bathroom nicely. my big concern was the water heater tank taking up so much space and me heating water when I'm not there so we are going with this Rheem, tankless point of use, Electric, 3 gpm continious flow. a normal shower uses 2.5 or less so this will be great for the shower plus the sink needs and it only kicks on when you turn the tap for hot water I ran number 6 wire, 240 volt circuit to a double pole 40 amp breaker and it's ready to plug in

I was thinking of the same Raheem heater you showed along with an on demand pump and 32 " shower
The crapper is what I'm still thinking about since to hole can be dug for a septic tank

The problem with the above ground septic is getting the black water to flow UP into it. Septic tanks are in the ground because they are gravity flow. If you could get the black water to flow into an above ground tank then you probably could make it work with an aerator type setup. But you'll need electricity for that.

I might lean towards: 1. an RV style toilet/septic system 2. Incinerator electric toilet
how are the RV toilets set up? Don't they use a small septic tank for the black water? Could I just put an RV toilet in and plumb it like an RV. Then maybe every few years dump or swap out the tank.
Anyone have any thought on using an RV toilet set up?
