I have a Dan Wesson Valor listed for sale or trade in the classifieds. It is in mint condition and has fired 250 rounds without any issues.

I absolutely love mine and it has ran several thousand rounds of all types of ammo without a single malfunction. Tight fit, series 70 extractor, no MIM parts.

ive hear it said about Kimbers that they are like beautiful women, fun to look at and play with but if you ever have to really depend on one you are screwed

Man, I guess I have been thinking all wrong for the last few years...I have a Kimber custom carry pro and I love it. It is my favorite pistol, but it is also the only 1911 I have (had) I just bout a Colt 1911 .38 super today that I am picking up this weekend.

I have had my Kimber for almost 3 years now and I love it. Never had any malfunctions, for a 1911 it is fairly easy to conceal, and it shoots great. I am more accurate than I am with any of my other pistols, and it is the only sidearm I carry while I am at my ranch. I am not saying it is the best thing out there but I think some people might be knocking on it a little hard is all!

I would like to have one of those Springfields tho...and a Dan Wesson is definitely in my future!

just my .02

That's no joke! My unloaded RCS was heavier than my buddies loaded Custom CDP II!

In all honesty, it's between the TRP and Para, but I've never fired or even handled either

if you want to fire mine. MSG me. I love my full rail trp

I'll keep that in mind bud. I would definitely like to fire one before I buy, even if I do have to wait until Christmas!

Honestly, Colt's never really crossed my mind. Whenever I think of a Colt, I think GI...

I'll have to take a look at their website to see what they've got out there

Nothing really...as long as you bought before 2010. That's when their QA/QC took a dump and a number of key people jumped ship.

Kimber quality has taken a dump and they are using MIM and plastic parts. I have two dealer associates that gave up their master dealer programs due to inferior product coming in with defects. Most springfields are made in Brazil but the TRP is made in the US if that's important to you. I would also consider what another poster suggested and look at the Dan Wesson. In my opinion it is the best bang for the dollar right now and contains only forged parts and is still hand fitted. I, along with other firearms instructors at my PD have shot the Pointman next to the Les Baer Premier which is a much higher price point and we ALL preferred the Dan Wesson. I am not in the the 2500 or higher category on a 1911 so if you are comfortable in the $1100 to $1500 price point range I would stack the Dan Wesson against any other 1911 in that price point.

yes sir, agreed.
People that reall know 1911s will almost unilaterally agree with you.
I got the Valor in for review a few years ago and took it to my buddy who builds custom 1911s and 2011s.
He pulled it apart and said it's better worksmanship than what's coming out of Les Baer (which are often fitted TOO tight) and Wilson Combat's standard pistols (I am a WC fan and own several of their guns)

I couldn't stand to send the gun buck and had to have it.. Sold my S&W performance shop 44 to fund it as I was between jobs..

Mine has several thousands of rounds through it and has never had a single malfunction.
Everything from cheap Russian crap to all sorts of hollowpoints from 185g to 230g and several different 255g hardcast loads.

It still runs tight and I plan to keep it forever.

This is not meant to be a "my gun is better than yours" thing at all..
I got a smoking deal on mine..

my dad has a Ruger "target" 22 a few years ago with a horrible trigger
Ruger wouldn't do anything about it...

I picked up a wilson CQB not long ago. Its nice, but gonna keep my trp operator! Got an awesome deal on the wilson, otherwise I would not have turned loose of the money for it. I want to check out a dan wesson, but no one in my area carries them.
