hunting in trinity county this past weekend and saw a mature doe that had a large tumor looking thing hanging from her chest. She looked a little skinny and her fawn looked the same. Has anyone ever seen anything similar? Is this a concern for me and the surrounding areas?

I saw one with a tangerine sized lump under her chin. What are those things?

Lumps on the chin or face can be caused by getting nailed by a rattle snake. I used to have cattle down by Port Isabel, usualy had 4 or 5 a year that would have a ball on the face from a rattler. That would be my guess, but could be something else.
Gotta put some lead in the air if you're going to get anything!

It didn't look like it was attached to her chest muscle. It looked like it was between skin and muscle. Whenever she would move, the tumor would sway back and forth hitting both legs. It was huge. Looked like small football inside her skin. Put a football inside a sheet, blanket, etc.. and let it hang, then swing it. Thats what it was like. No exagerating either.

There were two small tumors (about 2" x 2" x1/4") on a button buck I shot (thinking it was a doe, Doh!) friday, one on each shoulder. On one side, it was under the skin. On the other side, it was under the outermost layer of muscle, and it did not become apparent until I quartered it.
I am using the tumors to ease my conscience about shooting a button buck.
