I just purchased an ar-15, i am trying to mount a scope on it. What do you guys think about the eotech 512. Im a college student and dont want to spend too much money. I am just wanting it to do some hog hunting.

How far can you actually see with it? Will i be able to get at 100 yards?

Eotech makes a good product. IIRC the 512 had problems at some point but I can't imagine they still do. I used to run one but I've since moved to Aimpoint for the battery life.

Hog hunting and 100 yard shooting will be no problem with Eotech. Plus you can buy a magnifier separate.

Agree, but for the money, I'd go Aimpoint PRO.

I run the 512 on my 5.56 for hog hunting. I wouldn't pay more than $250 for one. The XPS2 can be had for just a hair over $300.

They are great sights, and I like them an abundant more than aimpoint. When it comes to red dots, I just don't like looking down a tube. And I prefer the eotech dot than the aimpoint dot.

I have yet to bother sighting in at 100 yards with the eotech, only because the closest range has a horrible 100 yard range, but 100 yards is pretty standard sight-in for the eotech.

Mine is more than 3 years old and has taken a beating and works perfectly.

I have one and it works well. You can pick them up reasonably cheap used.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
