Guys,
Does anyone shoot here? This is the closest range to my home that's more than 100 yds. How do you like it? Do you use it often?
Thanks,
Mel

I shoot there. I like it. I go there maybe 1-2 times a month as its a 2 hour drive each way. My only issue is that they shut down if the ground is wet, so I wait till after they open to call and see if the ranges are open that day before driving out.

Mel, Tac Pro is supposed to be an excellent place to shoot, but you may also consider VX Marksmanship depending on where you live. VX Marksmanship - Located between Decatur and Denton. http://www.vxmarksmanship.com/

Jim,
Thanks for the recommendation! It looks great but all I'm looking for is to shoot long range at my convenience. I'm not looking to participate in any classes. I do appreciate what they do though and it looks fun.

VX Marksmanship - Located between Decatur and Denton. http://www.vxmarksmanship.com/ i didn't see any range information just course information. It says if you take enough classes you can be invited to be a member to use it as a range but that you have to take a certain number of classes a year to maintain the membership. Are they a range or a training center?

Sorry for the lack of details guys, but I really don't know if shooters can just go there to shoot. I know they provide shooting instruction, but can't say if one can just go there to shoot.

Based on what I read you have to pay for a minimum of two classes and then you can become a member and use the range....if I may be frank...too much stuff required. I just want to shoot. And it's expensive! I understand they want to make $$$ and for those who are interested then I say go for it.

I've shot Tac Pro for years. I was never a member, but had many friends who were and went with them to shoot. The problem with Tac Pro is it's one range that the shooters move from each firing line. So, if you want to shoot 1K yards, you have to wait for everyone shooting less than that to finish. Plus, they close the range down often. I've shot many of their sniper matches, and used to shoot the Lone Star shoot outs. But, the way Bill runs it now, I told my self I would not go back again. And I'm a little upset how the place turned out, since I learned to shoot on that range. There is also this place below. I know several shooters that are members here. I plan to visit soon. It's in Waxahachie. https://www.facebook.com/extremetacticsandtrainingsolutions

i have been to ETTS for a class. I enjoyed it. I know you can become a member, but i think you can do a daily rate but you have to talk to them to make sure

Cleric,
They make you become a member to shoot beyond 200 yds.
Chad,
I do agree with you...didn't like the set up...it would have been much better if all the shooters shot at the same line with different yardages set up from that point.

I'm all ears if someone knows of a decent range in the dfw area. Specifically, I'm hoping for a 1000 yard range but would gladly shoot at 500. I hate shooting at elm fork.

Pike, they are few and far between! I am going to check out extreme tactics later this week that Chad alerted me to. It's a ways south from elm fork though.

You can also look into FiremanJG's range. He has a great 800 yard range where you shoot from a fixed point, and engage targets at every 100 yards til 800. I've shot there many times, and it's where we held the Hunting Rifle Challenge shooting match. It's a great range! http://www.precisionriflehunters.com/home.html

I like going to Tac Pro because of how out there it is and away from the city. It's an hour plus drive but the scenic view when driving is totally worth it. It's also nice to be able to shoot FMJ ammo as well.
Iv got hogs an can show you a good time.

Also, don't forget about Top Gun in Leonard, just East of McKinney. It is a 500 yard and is where I shoot 90% of the time. You have 1 fixed shooting position, and there are berms and targets at each yardage.

I have been using Tac-Pro since nearly they opened. Its $150ish for the yearly membership after the first year which gets you reduced range fees and access to the 1k range. To get on the 1k range you just gotta show up on a saturday and shoot with Bill or whoever is giving the class. Haven't been since getting back from Pakistan though.
I use Georges in Glen Rose sometimes but the asshatery there is getting out of hand. Nothing like being swept by people who have no business being unsupervised on the range. I have run into much less of that at Tac Pro.

ETTS has a good three gun match.
