So, I am big into the Atv Riding/Mud Riding game, and we were riding at a friends deer lease yesterday, near Shelbyville Texas, which is very swampy bottomland.

Hear a group of friends yell out snake in one of the mudholes, and so we get out of the RZR, kill it, get it out of the mudhole, and were amazed at the size of it.



In just a second, he began regurgitating something, and we began to see another tail. We got another stick and started pulling them apart, prying out the HUGE FANGS the moccasin kept digging into it.




Finally got it out, and it was a snake... a much bigger snake than he is..




Craziness... Just thought I would share.. talk about not make you want to be in a swamp anymore!

This is a comforting tale I'll read to my kids this evening to put them to bed.

Man, that Moccasin's day went from great to bad real quick. Best meal of your life,but then somebody makes you puke and shoots you in the head.

If it makes it any better, we killed 7 more water moccasins yesterday after that one, just riding 4wheelers in the property...

That's cool. That brings back terrible memories of when I got bit by a water moccasin. We too were riding in flooded swamp land in Marshall, I had a snake come over the handle bars and latch down on my left inner thigh about 2 inches from the jewels. A quick grab with my left hand, head cut off by a friend, and an hour and half later I was at the hospital. I now ride through water with my knees on the seat and one hand on the jewels.

All this rain has got them critters moving. Lots of recent snake stories in the forums.

My wife spotted a small one in our pool a few weeks ago. I used the leaf strainer to get it out of the water, then it had the audacity to strike at me three times before I slammed a paving brick on its head. That was the second one in two years in our pool.

Snakes on dry land don't bother me but somehow water/mud hole snakes kind of freak me out a little.

Cottonmouths are vile creatures. Glad you got a 2 fer 1.

Those are the most aggressive snakes I've ever dealt with. Had one come into a boat while running trot lines.

They are nasty, ill tempered snakes for sure. Only kind of snake I have ever seen that will actually come at you. If we had got to him without that snake in his belly, I bet he would have been a fighter for sure....
