Picked up a 1,000 rounds of Winchester Super-X 37gr 1330 FPS HP at Walmart on Friday. I really didn't like the price at almost $0.08 per round, but the Grandkids were smiling today.....

Got an individual in the classifieds right now asking (with a straight face) for 8.8 cents a round for .22 LR rofl so comparatively you got a deal.

I suppose he worked hard for it, standing in line for so long to sell to folks here for so much.

Guy's gonna make a lot of friends on here. rolleyes

Stores have taken to selling by the box of 50 for outrageous prices.

I'm going to buy a closet full of CCI standard velocity if it ever goes back down.

the thing about that an add like that gets me the most, is the belief that your doing someone a favor

your gonna take advantage of a given situation, do it and stop all the bs'n. your not helping anyone but yourself

When you count yourself as part of a community like THF, generally it's not a good idea to urinate on the campfire in front of everyone like that. To me, this individual showed exactly how limited he thinks everyone's intelligence here is. Pretty low and VERY bad form, IMO.

That's exactly how I feel about the Pay Day Loans & Pawn Shops.....I only wish it was possible to go down the line of people waiting outside of stores for ammo to scalp and verify if they are collecting...... 1. Unemployment benefits 2. Disability 3.Any other kind of public assistance.

If so....Then they should immediately be made to work toll booths at the airport; because after all if you can sit on your @$$ in a lawn chair outside of Academy every morning you can sit on your @$$ and not live off others taxes.

It's like the drug problem with the cartels...... The ammo scalpers are filling a "demand" for ammo - and some folks are willing to get scalped. The resellers aren't causing the shortage - they want to flip it to the buyers fast. It's the insatiable ammo appetite of the American public. Last I read, .22lr is being produced and shipped at a rate of 1.2 million rounds per day in this country.

I refuse to buy even one round of any type of ammo at inflated prices - period. Nor will ever I stand in any line to buy .22lr. BUT, I have bought 7K-8K rounds of normal.22lr for $.05 per round over the last 18 months. No, I don't resell, no I don't hoard - unless you call keeping 1500 to 2000 rounds "hoarding." Some has gone to THF members, some to my grandkid's and as gifts to other people's kids who had zero ammo. It's all about seeing the kids faces when they connect with the target.

When I start getting low, I stop by Walmart on the way work a 2-3 days per week - at around 6:45 AM to 7:00AM. That's when my local store puts out stock that came in overnight. About every 2-3 weeks, they will have a bunch of .22lr, but it's always sold out by lunch. So, I get my three box limit, whether it's 1,000 round bricks or 50 round boxes. I don't like having to do it this way, but it is how I've been buying my 9mm, .357 mag and .22lr during this panic.

I don't get this. How much rimfire ammo people are going trough if they are not hoarding or scalping?
How many people have a place to shoot every day hundreds of rounds with their kids?
This is hilarious and at the same time shows me what happens when people act with the herd mentality.
Go back read the the doomsday or conspiracy scenarios about the 9mm. 223, etc...and look around now. They are dime a dozen everywhere.
Wake up people!Unnecessary demand is driving prices up!

Dunno about your doomsday stuff, not my thing. But I will respectfully disagree about your "dime a dozen" pricing.

I am very picky about what I pay per round and I will say that ammo prices are still up 15% to 20%+ compared to "pre panic" and not likely to drop too much more. Again, I'm talking about REPUTABLE places, not CTD and other scalpers. Depending upon what you shoot (your example of 9mm and .223) I see "real" prices at 10%-30%+ above what they were two years ago. In other words, ammo will continue to climb in price - even if new taxes are not added.

Government conspiracy? No, not likely. It's simple inflation on top of the fear of more inflation. Take a look at your grocery bill over the same time period.... seriously - tell me that food costs haven't gone rampant and taken a massive hike! Yes, folks are stacking ammo high and stacking deep, but it's because they know that the prices will go up along with everything else - just like it has been doing for years.

I fully understand their logic, but I'm not storing any more ammo than I have been for the last 40 years - I just don't have the cash. I AM working toward being debt free and becoming more self sufficient. Credit card debt is gone. The truck and cars are paid off. Payoff of the house/land is accelerating. Most of us can clearly see that our country is changing. I don't pretend to know where it's heading, but it's not going to be the "same old, same old" forever.

If you feel that I'm falling prey to the herd mentality, we will have to respectfully agree to disagree.

JMHO,
Marc
