Prayers sent. I knew Walter, his Dad and his brother Louie (who died young also).

Very sad, I called Walter last summer to try and arrange a hunt for myself and a buddy for the first week of December. Walter didn't have what I wanted but he was very gracious and professional. He called me several weeks later and gave me a contact to a beautiful ranch that I've hunted several times since. I thanked him several times but wish I could have met him in person. RIP Walter

Man I really liked Walter.....RIP, you could also count on him when describing animals to you to be as good or better than he lead on, He and his family were pioneers in the exotic hunting in texas, you will be missed.

RIP Walter frown I was just recently PMing him about a water buffalo hunt.

An article was on page A4 of this morning's Express-News. I was supposed to hunt with him this weekend. I'm sorry I never got a chance to meet Walter in person -- everyone had good things to say about him.

What a shame. I had spoken with Walter about a week ago regarding a Red Sheep hunt...really nice guy. RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

My son and I just hunted with Walter a week ago today. My son took a nice Axis buck down near Fredericksburg. So sad, going to miss riding around the Deer Pasture with Walter and hearing his stories. He was a good man. My prayers go out to his family. He will be missed.

I sold Walter the very first Trophy Mouflon Ram that I raised, He always shot straight with me and I thought a lot of Him, have seen a few "not entirely positive" Posts on here over the last couple of years about him, his Family and the Y.O. Ranch, everybody in the Exotic Hoofstock Industry owes Walter and his Family a debt of Gratitude for the Trail that they Blazed in this Industry!

Yep, a huge piece of Texas ranching history died with Walter. And regardless of the negative things that have been said and printed in papers about him, he ALWAYS treated me and my family and friends with the utmost kindness and respect.

That in itself is saying a lot for someone who is a scion from one of the most prestigious ranching families this state's ever seen. He was the most unpretentious famous person I've ever met.

Getting to be his neighbor and share some fine times at auctions and events was a special priviledge that I'll remember all my life.

God bless Walter and his family.

I also was supposed to hunt with Walter this weekend but my wife's grandmother fell and she had to go out of town. I still would not have met him as I was supposed to be there Friday but the few conversations I had with him, had me very excited to meet him and go on a few hunts this year with him. What a trajic loss.

R.I.P. Walter

It is a sad and sobering event that should make us all aware our lives hang on a delicate thread that can break without the least bit of warning. May God console Walter's family and friends in this tragic time of grief.

I was wanting to book a hunt on his place this fall, just to get the chance to ride around with him and talk about the history of his family ranch.

I don't think I've met anyone in person off of this website, but there are certain names/handles that I look forward to seeing when I log on. Mostly I'm wondering what pictures they have recently added, or what hunt they may have to offer, or some new information that they posted which I didn't know before. If your willing, you can learn a lot from people that you haven't even met. I'll miss seeing pictures and post from Walter and his ranch.

I hope he rest in peace and gets the chance to continue to watch over his ranch from a much better level

Seemed liked he was the only one that really wanted to keep the YO from going on the market.

I hunted with Walter in January. My first hunt with him but definitely would not have been my last. Class act and good man. I was sure looking forward to seeing him again in January 2015. God bless you on your trip home Walter. See you again someday.

Ryan, thanks for sharing the info. I had the pleasure to hunt with Walter and Ricky and was wandering about this but I didn't feel like it would be appropriate to ask a this time.
