So I've been noticing Daisy, my 6 month old pup, has been licking the inside of Buddy's, my 3 year old, ear and have been wondering if this is normal behavior or if I need to stop this. He doesn't seem to mind it and actually looks like he enjoys it. I did some searching and found stuff that says it's good and others say it's bad. I've never had two dogs at once before so I figured I would ask y'all
Iv got hogs an can show you a good time.

If Buddy doesn't like it, he will probably let Daisy know.

My young vizsla dash does this to my old vizsla blaze. Sometimes Blaze likes it and purrs like a kitten. Sometimes she growls and tells him to leave her alone. I let them work it out. What he also does sometimes is lick blind blaze's pearl eyes. But this is when I say enough and give the "no lick" command to make him stop. Creeps me out.

My younger pup will lick my older dog's mouth vents and eyes. He'll try the ears sometimes, but my older dog has always been a little sensitive on the ears and won't let that happen very often. It's a pack thing where they are grooming and showing submission to a more alpha pack member... plus I think it just tastes good to them too. If you were to let him... that pup would probably lick your ears too! Unless it's causing irritation in the ears or infections, I wouldn't worry about it. I've read where it can actually prevent ear infections in the "lickee".
As Sniper notes, it's probably good to have a "off" command of some kind to be able to stop it while you are having Christmas dinner or something.

If you were to let him... that pup would probably lick your ears too! Haha, my beagle loves to lick my ears. I grew up with dogs all the time pup could have a bite of your hot dog a lick off your lollypop or a slurp out of your tea and it didn't matter. My beagle will about maul you to get to lick you in the ears. She loves to try for the nose to, but that's just a bit to far.
It's hell eatin em live

My older Lab licks my younger Lab's ears. My French Bulldog licks my older Lab's face while she is sleeping.
