How do you pick out a spot in the field to set up your spread?

I agree...bigger decoys are better, soarnomore has some double size dove but they're expensive. Getting them off the ground enough to cast a shadow helps too.

Depends on where I am hunting.

Usually I use two mojos, a few on the fence, and a few on the ground along with a couple of my homemade flappers.

I'm sure there are several pics floating around of how I set up.

In a plowed field or a short hay patch I use two motor-mojo's and about two dozen stationaries around them, and a few more in trees and on fences. For the stationaries in the field I clip them to landscape clips, the ones used to secure landscape cloth. They look like miniature backgammon wickets. I stick the clips in the ground and the tails of the dekes in just enough to keep them from face planting into the dirt.

This is how I'm packing mine...it's connected so that there are only 2 pieces, and each piece folds up, bottom half/top half...I can carry my bucket and decoys in one hand, fence and gun on my back, and still have a free hand to manage my dog. 47 days.

I should come up with a bag that will carry a gun as well as the fence...might be a new project. I need to get a weight on the fence...but it's not heavy at all.

Thanks! I haven't timed it yet, or tried to rush through it, but I think it's in the realm of 90 seconds to set it up/tear it down and bag it....it's certainly not more than 2 min.

Like I said earlier, send a PM if any of you around DFW want one. I'm going to order parts tomorrow and make a few more when I get my order in.

That dead tree is a great idea.

I agree. I use 2 trees I made with mojos but nothin beats natural. You can be sure once my family purchases land I'll be stapping a huge dead tree in place.

Great idea thanks. I like this setup. I think I will add this to my spread this year. What are you using for the cables/wire?

It amazes me how dove will flock to a couple small mesquite trees in a wide open field. Yep, I'm beginning to get excited about the upcoming season. cheers

I find an old dead tree and use between 10 and 20 feet of PVC pipe painted brown and set the dove like he is lighting in the top of the tree. Then just wait.
