Any tips hints you can give me would be greatly appreciate since this will be the first time I get to hunt in the Rita Blanca national grassland

I'd say, don't gas up the truck quite yet. The odds of getting drawn for that one are pretty long.

Yep, it's a hard draw. I know. I have 18 preference points for that one. It would be nice after this years draw my loyalty points for this one became zero rather than 19, but I never get my hopes up for the antelope draw.

I'd say, don't gas up the truck quite yet. The odds of getting drawn for that one are pretty long. True statement. Been applying for this one for a while. Hopefully I will get drawn at some point before I die.

A fella told me that "it only took 33 drawings" for him.  Used a black angus cow decoy & was successful at first light on the first morning.

Drew the Rita Blanca hunt in 2011. I had 18 points and my nephew none. It a decent hunt. Since the odds are over one in hundred of drawing I would not hold my breath.

If you get drawn for a hunt, your points go back to zero. He is saying that he hopes he gets drawn because his points would be 0 instead of 19.

Unfortunately instead of 500 people applying for one or the other, now there will be 1000 people combined applying for both hunts.
