Not asking for specific locations (seen some of the replies in the waterfowl section) but I have few questions about Mule deer in Texas.
Is there a good population of them and what part of Texas do they tend to be in?

Yes. West Texas has them.

Yeah, we have some Mule deer. This is the bottom of the panhandle in southern Dickens county near Spur, TX.

Nice pictures!!
I was reading on Tpwfd website that there is no public hunting landing available for mule deer. So much for the idea of spending a weekend of spot and stalking. I'm already on a lease northeast of Abilene and don't really want to pay a guide to hunt. Guess I'll think of another plan.

There is some but most of it is by drawing only. Lake Meridith in the Panhandle has walk in hunting for mule deer, but I hear it gets very crowded.

There are no deer at Matador. Nothing but hoot owls and polecats.
