Does anyone have this rifle or know anything about it? Any feedback? I have been wanting to get a Sharp's rifle for years. This model does not come with a long range peep sight, and I'd like to add it. Would this be a good rifle for this? Link: Taylors and Company 138 1874 Sliding Breechblock 45-70 Government

Not a bad copy of the 1874 Sharps. From what U have seen and read it is a good quality reproduction without the higher cost of a Shilo Sharps from Big Timber Montana which would be my choice if $$$ wern't a concern. Lyman and Marbles among others make sights for it, get ready to replace the front sight as well if you are wanting to do the kind of shooting I would expect you to do with it. Have fun with that steel butt plate, hint for lots of shooting a slip on limbsaver pad makes it lots more comfortable for long shooting sessions. For just fun shooting with lots less punch I really like the Little Sharps rifle in 38-55 Win. It is a 1874 Sharps design shrunk by 20%. Dakota also makes one and Charles Daily imports one that is less than half the cost of the other 2. http://littlesharpsrifle.com/home.html

.45-70 is a soft shooter in a rifle that weight. I just finished building one similar that was pleasant to shoot with steel plate.

Made by Chiappa. Taylors and Co. are the importers. Google Chiappa. Some love them, many do not. I have a Pedersoli 1874 replica that shoots well, and has a shotgun style butt plate.

This is mine, its a Taylor and its a blast to shoot and I really like the D.G.W. 4x15 scope on it. I bought it from a member on here a while back. Its very accurate with 405 grain lead flat nose and those will thump a pig and I'm sure anything else.
