I'm proud to be an American and think celebrating the 4th is a good thing, BUT in my subdivision(in the county) it has become like living in an open field with the AF flying bombing missions. I've yet to see it bother a dog in the field but for 4-6 hours it's like world war three around here. One neighbor actually started a fire in the drainage area next to my house two years ago when of these bomb exploded prematurely. I've had pups pacing all over, really bothered by the explosions. Older dogs also not very happy. It's not roman candles and sparklers, it's the big stuff(150 ft in the air and hugh explosions that shake the windows). Stuff that makes you twitch if your outside and going off till after midnight. I guess you can tell I'm not a fan. So Friday evening I'll be moving them all into the garage, bought a box fan to help cool it off in there. Rant over.

Mine are used to it, they shoot fireworks almost year round at Cedar Creek lake, but the weekend of the 4th, is absolutely crazy. The only one in my kennels that is scared of the fireworks is Ace, the EP that I got from DoubleB20, he wont come out of his dog house for nothing while fireworks are going off. But he'll come running to a gunshot
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

KC Lying is lying. Don't bitch about one doing it and condone another. That's called hypocrisy. _________________

I live near the location of a fairly long and loud choreographed fireworks show near the fourth and a couple smaller ones they do at other holidays. Those flash bang rockets are definitely like bombs and they do use a lot of them, mostly in the finales. My older Blaze when very young used to get a little nervous if I forgot to bring her in, but these days she does not seem to care or notice. I have taken her to the firework show with me before. Younger Dash I tried to keep away from it, but when he heard the last one, he related to it as if it was a Dove field with birds flying and guns shooting. In the house when it started, he cried at the door and then ran around outside during the fireworks excited and wanting in on the action. But yep, it would be wise to keep any untested dog away from them. And a tested dog too until you see how they are reacting to what is going on outside that day.

I shoot the big ones off at my house. The dogs will be inside with a loud radio and the lights on.
Saturday night I heard some of these big ones right next to my house. I had the dogs in the yard. I walked out there to see who was shooting them and called the dogs up. As soon as Izzy go to my side one went off. She started running and jumping up looking for the animal she was supposed to retrieve. She was pumped.
