I'm on a job here just south of San Antonio and there are doves everywhere! I haven't seen a concentration of mourning doves like this in many years. Looks like it's gonna be a good year.

They are always there in the city limits and around it, just scattered more. Those move west to Hondo area and westward in August.

We have always had good shoots there for the first two weeks

2 out of the last 3 years have been a bust on our Hondo shoots

With the rains in West Texas, we are seeing good numbers at our ranch near Abilene. Too bad opening day is Labor Day this year.

Lots of dove in Monohans, and a bunch of blue quail too. I have a few quail that drink the AC condensation off my work trailer, Im going to get them some seed this afternoon and try to help them along. I like seeing all the birds have a good year.

I drove from SA to Three Rivers to Kennedy then home to SA and I saw tons of dove! It's gonna be a good September.

More dove this spring on my Alice farm and ranch than I have seen in a long time. Good crops on the coastal plains and spring rains. More nests on my place than I have ever seen, They are nesting in my golf cart, propane tank, kids play ground everywhere they can find a nook. Lots of dove nesting in my oaks around my house in Corpus as well.

Our old place in Hondo was dove hunting heaven. Right in the flight path and you could limit out just by pointing your gun in the sky and shooting without looking. Now that it's sold I'm hoping the new place will hold dove pretty good. They won't be flocking over but I think the hunting should still be well above average.
