I needed a building for my atv's. I framed a 10x20 out of shipping pallets. I put barn siding on the outside with a slanted sheet metal roof. It cost total around $800 and looks great. Would love to build a lease cabin some day using the same technique. There is tons of info on the web for building with shipping pallets. If you find recycled materials it would be even cheaper. My 30 pallets were bought at a local feed store for $1.50 apiece.

I boust my cabin from T4C cabins in San Angelo Looking at his website: http://t4cbuildings.com/index.phpThis looks like a pretty good option. Can you give an idea of what your cabin is like and the cost?

Go to http://www.oklahomahistory.net/palletshed.html. this is how I built mine and its very easy to do. The website has pictures and does a good job explaining everything. If you want bigger than 10x10 just add a couple of sections on both sides. You will find working with pallets is very easy to do.

I am in your same shoes looking for something the grandkids can enjoy on our farm later on and will not break the bank. There are some good portable metal building options out there that seem to be pretty sturdy and will not take a lot of maintenance. Keep the thread going Lelands has some pretty good buys either finished or not finished. Check out their Stag........

This one is under $10,000 unfinished and around $20,000 as these pictures minus the furniture(all other extras are in the package-cabinets-closets-window ac-sinks-shower etc.-fridge and stove.). Kind of what I am leaning toward.

Need some input..........This prefab(16x32) is already prewired and insulated with bedroom and bath framed. Used very little. Is 6500.00 a good price ?

Just remember to apologize after you pay for it because you're basically going to steal it. My 16x32 was $8,000 - outside complete with 7 windows, inside only to the studs.....and I was glad to get it at that price. It cost me another $1,000 to have it moved 2 miles, blocked and leveled.

Hoping all works out. Would be a perfect fit for my family and grandkids siting on a hill by the front gate overlooking the farm. I have a rustic cabin back in the pasture we built 20 years ago but the age is catching up and I need a little electric and running water these days. Thanks for the input.

Build it yourself on skids. I'd bet you'll have less than half of what it would cost if you bought prefab. Besides if you do it you know it will be built to last.

Well, actually, quite to the contrary. If I built myself a cabin, I'm dang sure it would collapse and kill everyone within a country mile.

we had one built on site. 12X32 with a 6 foot front porch its a barn style, lofts on each end. Having the open ceiling makes it feel much bigger inside. We had the basic building finished and had them wrap the outside with a Dupont radiant heat barrier/low E vapor barrier and we insulated it with R13 I put in a 100 amp service panel and wired it up it's a work in progress, but we have plans to make it pretty nice inside.
