I know that this is probably the wrong crowd to bring this up to, and I don't mean anything mean by that staement.

The Dallas Safari Club annual convention starts this Thursday, and I really enjoy going over there on the Saturday during the time when the show is open to the general public.

Lora and I will be there by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and I was just curious if anyone else might be thinking about going, and if they wanted to try and schedule and impromptu get aquainted session.

I know that for most folks on here both the DSC and SCI, along with TTHA are members of the "Evil Empire", and are directly to blame for hunting prices in Texas to be where they are at.

I just enjoy looking at the Taxidermy mounts and talking to folks about hunting caribou and cape buffalo, I did book my Musk-Ox/Caribou hunt thru a group over there back in 1999.

To me it is a fun show, and if I am gonna dream, it is just as cheap to dream big as it is to dream small.(Well, no, actually Heineken are about $5.00 a bottle over there.)

If anyone is interested in going, pm me, if you are only interested in reaming me out for supporting the "Evil Empire", have at it, as it might be a fun topic, I have laid myself open for this one.

A trip over to the dark side?
Just kidding. Probably be fun to go
look around but I'm sure I'd be made
for a no-money havin' lurker there in
no time. Have fun.

God bless
PK

My smart mouth almost got the best of me on this one. Enjoy the taxidermy.

98% of the folks in there on Sat. and Sun. fall into that category, but those folks don't seem to be real quick to judge folks by the way they dress or talk. Most of the folks in the booths I talk to, seem to be aware of the fact that as Americans, and Texans at that, it is best not to make assumptions about a person. The Europeans, Aussies, Africaaners, and Canadian outfitters I have talked to in the post willing ly and gladly answer questions about their hunts. It is really an interesting and fun way to spend an afternoon.

Go ahead and say what you want to. I gave everybody leave to fire their best broadside. No one is going to make me mad on this one, because I just like to think of what it would be like to be able to hunt some of that game. Will I ever get to, I don't know, but I do know if I ever gained access to that kind of money, I would have an idea of who to contact to set up a hunt.

I have been to one of their shows before and its a good time. All I do is dream when I go up there because I know I'll never go over there to Africa. Two things keep me from going. 1) I can't bring the meat home with me and that is very important to me, no matter what it costs. 2) My fear of water. Flying over that big ocean isn't too appealing to me.

I'd go this time to one of their shows if I could get away to do it.

My friend (redraider99) and I were thinking about going but there is a gun show in Denton the same weekend. Don't think I could escape the wife two days in a row. The show looks really cool. I'm like CHC, I just like to talk to the people and hear some of thier stories and see all the cool mounts and all the places I dream of going some day. If we decide to go we will let you know.

Lora and I got the chance to meet bankrunner and 3 of his buddies at the DSC show on Sat. afternoon, had a great time visiting with them. Show was its usual, "Set and Dream", about what it would be like to have real money, and worry about the fact that the future of hunting is on display there.
