As soon as the phillips head screw was invented the flathead screw should have been made illegal to produce.
From this day forth the only screw type that should be made is the Torx drive. It is the best thing to fasteners since threads.
Rant over.

Seems like every torx screw I have take a different size tip. Drives me nuts! I never seem to have the right size and if I do have the right size its worn out!

Just because you don't have enough years accumulating the bits. How many phillips bits do you have? I'd have to measure mine in pounds. Bet everyone can say the same.
Torx is the way. Its the largest internal contact surface area available.

The first time I ever saw a torx head bolt was on my brand new 73 Monte Carlo. I needed to remove the back seat to install 5x9 speakers in the package rack behind the back seat. When I saw the bolts holding the bottom of the back seat, I didn't know what they were and certainly didn't have a bit to fit them.

Torx heads are the way to go. The junk square heads that Home Depot sells are pure stupidity. I have a ford bit that hasn't failed in over 10lbs of screws, it's actually a very shiny silver and I have no idea where it came from but it doesn't show any wear or damage.

Seems like every torx screw I have take a different size tip. They should only come in three sizes, big, medium and small.

Home Depot and Lowes both sell junk tools IF you buy off brand tools but they do have torx bits that will stand up for a long time.I bought the DeWalt 7 piece torx bit set for about $7. and that gives me a bit for any screw. You can buy a single or a two pak but why not get the whole set the first time ?.Milwaukee might be a pretty good bit if I couldn't find DeWalt but buy a quality tool and you will be happy. *If you have a worn out tool then don't blame the screw*
