I don't know what it is, but I would be happy showing up on September 13th and giving it a try.

I can't tell what the plant in the second photo is, it appears to have serrated leaves. It's not nightshade or water pepper.

My dog snores.

Here's the smartweed or water pepper.

http://aquaplant.tamu.edu/plant-identification/alphabetical-index/smartweed/

So we got one vote that says its good for ducks and one that says its not.

ANNUAL SMARTWEEDS (Polygonum spp.) and PERENNIAL SMARTWEEDS (Polygonum spp.) Are not the same.

ANNUAL SMARTWEEDS
Excellent seed producer: Seed production is best the first year after disturbance and may approach 2,000
lbs./acre. Seed production decreases rapidly in each succeeding year
and may be only a few hundred lbs./acre by the third year after soil
disturbance.
Invertebrate substrate: Excellent substrate for invertebrates but leaves
must remain attached to the stem. Drought and insect infestations
reduce leaf abundance and thus invertebrate populations.

PERENNIAL SMARTWEEDS
Plant Value:
Poor seed producer: Seeds are small
and hard with poor digestibility. Seed
production is variable among years but
is never as high as production by
annual smartweeds.
Invertebrate substrate: Excellent
substrate for invertebrates provided
that the leaves remain on the stem.

Yes, I used to work at Hagerman NWR near Pottsboro, we planted millet and also did moist-soil management to proliferate annuals for waterfowl, having a bit of irrigation capability as you do is ideal.

Was loaded before I bought it last year- water full of pondweed as well.

I bought honda Mx10 to water every 10 days so it won't dry out. Should help 2nd 3rd planting. This will be good for teal

Too early for big ducks. Have browntop if real dry as well.

Encouraging for sure!
