Took a trip last Thursday and got back last night a little after 9:00pm. Went to Lubbock for my usual Duck, Quail, Pheasant hunt. This year was a little different "I GOT MY FIRST SANDHILL CRANE" YES!!!! I'll post up some photos later. It's always a great trip and you never know what the weather is going to be like. This year was DIRT HELL...in some areas I could only travel 20 MPH in dirt so thick and high you could only see 30 foot in front of you and wind gust to 50+MPH but that's another story all togather WITH PICTURES TOO!

Here's a few pictures.

Awesome, nice sunset pic!

I would agree with you, but then I would be wrong too.

The cranes look pretty sweet. I really want to shoot one of those.

Nice pics, thx for sharing. I remember when I went to Plainview a few years ago, the cranes were mad thick.

I don't ever recall seeing so many cranes in the past three years I've been there. I usually go for quail and pheasant and ducks. This is my first year to shoot a crane, I was susprised we only kicked up one covey of quail this year thou.

meant to ask on the quail crop (one covey doesnt sound like a good crop) where in relation to Lubbock did you hunt?

danceswithquail your right we normally see more covey than that. We hunted from Cotten Center to Petersburg. The quail we did see were good and healthy.

nice crane and pheasants. How does a relatively green hunter get on land that would allow him to shoot some birds like you have? I'm near Lubbock so I know of all the places you are talking about.

Cody no he is a friend of mine, he is not a guide but knows alot of the farmers in the area and gets access to hunt there property. Kingbert, I'm sure if you were to stop and ask the farmer/farmers in the area you could find some of them that wouldn't mind you hunting there land.
