I'm looking at purchasing a used Ranger from a private party. He has the title in hand. Do I need to have him sign anything else besides a Bill of sale, the title, and a 130-u form? Also, do I have to register the Ranger and or pay sales tax? Thanks!

The signed title and submitted U-130 form are important. The bill of sale, not so much.

I've heard if you register the ranger as a Off Highway Vehicle, they don't make you pay sales tax.

I own 6 atv/utv right now, and have owned over a dozen in my life. I haven't titled a single one. What I do though is send the serial numbers to law enforcement buddies to see if it is stolen. Not 100% sure check, but it does prove in court that I checked.

I second that and that is what I did with the Mule I have purchased;

That's all you need and tax.

Just take the signed title and keep with you along with bill of sale. You don't have to register it, save you a few bucks. .
