Hey bud, my old man lives in dimmit, and we are going pheasant hunting and quail hunting jan. 1-6. He said not many hunters up this year, but they had two hatches, so the birds should be good. Seem plenty around the house. have a good one man.

Nope not far at all. If you are hunting Hart and needing a hotel, Dimmitt is the place. Maybe 15 miles north of Hart

Hunted around Hereford and just north of Dimmitt this past saturday. 4 hens 3 roosters is all we came across. Had around 15 hunters, all the areas looked good just no birds.

I hate to hear that.. Before the season kicked off everyone was talking about how good this year should be. Wonder what happened?

Was supposed to hunt around Hereford, but got cancelled. The guide said a late large hail storm took out a lot of cover and birds. Hunted around Cotton Center last Saturday, not many birds there either.

We hunted Hereford and Dimmitt opening weekend and did pretty good.I heard the hail storm hurt the hatch from famers and the young birds just aren't there in the numbers of last year.
We saw more birds in hereford but harvet a good number of birds overall.
We had around 20 in our group and 3 1/2 dogs.
The 1/2 of dog listens to load up and that is about it.
I am glad I am American, I am glad that I am free. But I wish I was a dog ..... And Obama was a tree.

That guide watkins talked to is right. We had a couple of bad hail storms and one monster hail storm cut right across the panhandle and eastern NM this summer. There are still a few pockets of birds out there, but this year has been really bad b/c of those storms. It wouldn't surprise me if the bird population takes a few years to recover. Also wouldn't surprise me if they went back to a 2 week pheasant season for a couple years to help the population. It's been pretty depressing.
