Have a 24" Knight 50 cal that I've always gotten good results with 110 gr 777 and a 250 gr XTP in a sabot. Worked the load up like I would for a cartridge gun.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.
Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

I shoot 100 grains of pellets and a 250 grain TC Shockwave out of my Encore. Get 1" to 1 1/2" at 100 out of it.

I'd recommend a 290 grain barnes tipped expander as the bullet and 3 50gr WhiteHot The elk in the attached pic was shot using my old Knight with 120 grs of loose Pyrodex powder and a 300 gr barnes (now they make the 290 gr...same bullet). Elk went about 10 steps and dropped.

Where will you be hunting? Makes a huge difference in what the advice would be. Some States have rules on what you can and can not use (unless they recently changed- no sabots or scopes in Colorado). I think some say no pelleted powders. Some have area restrictions (such as no inlines) If I hunted Colorado I would use my NEF Sidekick loaded with 100 to 120gr Blackhorn 209 powder pushing a 300gr THOR bullet.

Hunting in New Mexico so I have options. I'm looking at shooting a 300g shockwave with with BH 209 powder.

High Country, The shockwaves are a good bullet for deer (they are made by Hornady for Thompson so they are the same as the Hornady bullets only a different color tip) but I would encourage you to use the Barnes bullets as they are better at penetrating a large animal lik e an elk and will break through bones.

What a bull! Can't argue with them results!
I prefer meat in it's original packaging.
