Has anyone ever tried one of these 1000lb ground based feeders? What do you like/dislike about them? http://capsulegamefeeder.com/

Terrible, waste of money specially if you have pigs, two things you can't do is see on the other side of it or shoot something in front of it, next easy for leaks and ruin your corn, next pigs will break em

Have plenty of pigs & no problems with them messing it up. I have the one that holds 250's of corn. I had an issue with mine when I first bought it & called the people that make them. They helped me get it up & running . The place where I had bought it put it together a little off. GREAT customer service. Will buy another here soon.

I've run a 1000 pounder for over a year now. Zero problems and i estimate that it has saved me 250-350$ in lost corn. The coons cannot get into it. Squirrels can get inside the cage and chew on the flinger but you can replace it with a metal one. No ladders to climb, throws great and you can convert it to a timed protein feeder. Excellent customer service. I'm planning on another one this year.

I don't know Ranch, I have 2 500 pounders that I have to fill twice a year. Spin 5 seconds during the season and 3 now. There is a never a kernal of corn waisted. In corn and gas when you are 2 hours away, they are pretty valuable in my book.

If you invest that kind of money in a feeder why would you need a feed pen since they are said to be bullet proof? The picture posted shows that hogs can be a problem and you told him to build a feed pen. I use 4 600# All Seasons Feeder with Eliminator spinner plates that are inside feed pens. I have $700 per setup including the feed pen. I only fill them 2 to 3 times per year running 6 seconds 2x per day from Sept till March then 2-3 seconds 2x per day the rest of the year. I don't have hogs using my feeders as a bowling ball like the one posted above. Cattle would not be an issue either. Seems like squirrels could be an issue with a plastic feeder also. I have one All Seasons 600# feeder on another place that is 13 yrs old setting inside a feed pen. It will have an Eliminator spinner plate this year to keep coons at bay. I have never been one to want hogs or cattle around my feeder when I am hunting. They will always keep deer away. Deer around a feeder is the reason I have a corn feeder going.

Simple answer on the pens. Pigs and cattle. I don't like pigs, and my LO has cattle and no squirrels on my place. Have not seen a coon on cam even mess with this feeder. Damn easy to fill too Ranch. I would buy another one in a nanosecond.

I have short legs on mine and they are easy to fill. I rarely get a coon in a picture and when I do I have Dukes to take care of that problem since there is a protein feeder next to the corn feeder.

Went to a place that had a dozen of them not long ago. They seemed like they would be hard on batteries! I would question the durability of the plastic over time.
I don't really know how much they cost, but I have crank up feeders that are not in pens have never had a problem with hogs or livestock. If I took the time to put varmint cages on all of them I wouldn't have to worry about coons either.

I agree with stxranchman I have all season feeders and customs protein feeders and whole set up with panels is 500 along with gettin my all seasons off craigslist when they come avaliable. Or on here. If you build a pen then what does it matter what you put in it you can buy a lot cheaper with better quality as in metal not plastic and your feeder mech. Will be underneath out of the rain for the most part. And not to mention you can shoot under it. Can't see behind those there and can't shoot something in front of em or your fixing a whole in your feeder. The above pic is my feeder it was a guys on our place and he will never have one of them agin pigs got and busted into these two diff times and one leaked water in and made one big corn block in one. There is just better out there for this price and a lot less hassle

I have owned my Capsule Feeder for over five years now and have yet to have any problems with it. Has never failed to feed on time EVER. Zero wasted corn. Still has original battery. Hogs could never take my lid off mine and I have no hog panels around mine at all. I have also shot hundreds of hogs off of it and a good number of deer and never put one hole through it shooting animals near it. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me that it would be so hard to avoid shooting holes in it.I don't know what happened to the one in the pic but it sure seems strange to me. I would rate the Capsule number one, followed by Hang Em High.

I have a bunch of hang em high's. Been very happy with them. That said they were given to me, I would not have spent the money to buy them when something similar can be made for much less.

I don't understand the "hog-proof" claim-seems like all they mean is hogs won't knock it over and destroy it. A few T-posts and some baling wire will make any feeder "hog proof". You still have to fence any feeder to keep hogs out of it.
I personally don't like them because 1)it can obscure the animal, 2)it is plastic, and 3)the filler hole is small and thus a pain. I much prefer my 600# All Seasons stand-and-fill feeders.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.
