I recently purchased a Havalon Piranta and can't believe I made it this long without one. I had another brand of exchangeable blade knife but it didn't last very long. This one is so easy to change blades its amazing. Sounds like an ad and I should get paid for the push but I am really impressed.

Anyone have any negative experiences with this knife?

Great for caping and skinning.

None, I use mine all the time, but have had a few blades snap from putting too much side pressure, but that's my fault anyway.

Love mine. Makes quick work of skinning.

I just can't get to the point where I'll put my old Sheffield bowie down for a replaceable blade.

What does the replacement blades run? Seems like a good concept.

I got a Piranta and used it last deer season on 3 does, a small hog and a buck. The only thing I wish was different is the weight of the handle. My other knives are heavier and I wish the Piranta weighed a little more.

Thanks,
Rich

I've handled that one and the one made by Outdoor Edge. The blades on the OE are a little stouter. But I haven't given up my standard knives either.

Had a buddy give me one...love it

Only negative: don't let your "off" hand get too close, they are sharp bang

Love them and use them alot but when skinning bigger animals I still use my bushmonkeys for the heavy blade.

I have more things to cut myself with than I need but the Havalon is all I use on whitetail.

We take hogs down a bit more so the joints need something heftier - a large knife or small axe. But the Havalon takes over for removing the meat and skin.

I suck at sharpening knives. The Havalon blades are reasonable and cheaper by the 100. Even if I could sharpen knives like a pro, I wouldn't switch.

Great knives, wish handle was bigger for my long fingers.

As mentioned blades can break if twisted or if you try to cut a bone.

Replacement blades are cheap.
