My neighbor caled this morning about 8am. A newborn fawn was laying at the edge of their back porch with mama no where in sight. Neighbos house is about 75 yds from our house.

I have not heard anything more from the neighbors so I don't know. Maybe I will know more later today.

In my parents neighborhood the does come up into the yards that don't have dogs drop fawns under the big oaks and leave them there all day and come back in the evening. Most of the time they cant get out of the back yard till they can jump a 4' chain link fence... which is surprisingly much sooner than I would have thought.

That's why we put up 8' fences! Takes a WHILE for them to leap those suckers!

What county are you in? The part of ETX I hunt the beginning of the rut is typically mid October. Does are pregnant for about 7 months or a little less. So that would put her being bred about mid October.

The fawn has moved to the south side of the neighbors lot. They don't know if mama has beenback or not.
