I have a Savage Guide Gun in 375 Ruger. My question is what would be the best scope for this rifle?

The usual answer is a Leupold 1.5-5x. A few prefer the 2.5-8.

I have a 2-7 Leupold on my 416 Ruger. Works well and all I need.

Thanks for the input. Will post a photo when I get it all tricked out.

Like was mentioned, I would get something that I could lower to 1x or so and up to about 6x. I have a 375 H&H and have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40, which is something that I had in the safe when I bought the rifle so I put it on there. I do wish that I could zoom down to less than 3z, but i am not willing to spend the money on a new scope. I guess that the main question is what will you be hunting?

I am going to Africa for a month next year in June. I am fine with it open sights, but just undecided to be honest on scope or no scope.

I have not made it to Africa yet, but this would be my plan for that situation. I would get it sighted in open sights, then set it up with a quick detach scope mount and scope. If you are hunting plains game, a scope would be handy, but if you are out after something like Cape Buffalo, you might want open sights. Thats just my thoughts on it, but like I mentioned, I have never been to the dark continent nor have I hunted Old Nyati.

Another major consideration for a scope going on DGR is eye relief. Hard to have too much.
