Anyone hunt in Montague County? Just got a new lease west of Nocona. Saw a few deer when out scouting the place and lots of Coyotes.

I grew up in Nocona in the 50's. My grandparents had 75 acres out west of town. There was no deer or turkey anywhere in that part of the country. Now they are everywhere.

Can be good hunting. Just like anywhere it depends on the property and neighbors.

Some big boys up near St.Jo, close to the river. I'm sure other areas as well. Good luck. Seeing deer on your visit is a good sign. I haven't seen a deer since it greened up.

I was on a lease North of Bowie for years and it was great deer hunting. Both quality and quantity were good.

im hunting northwest of Nocona but I bet ive been on or near your place on a fire truck. I can help with those coyotes if you want always looking for a place to call. Friend of mine hunted 4-5 miles west on hwy 82 for a few years lots of deer but the big ones were always at the feeder after dark may have been the hwy or him coughing and smoking in the stand.

I own a place just South of Bowie. It is loaded with huge bucks that are absolutely nocturnal.

I hunted for a long time outside of Forestburg. We killed several really nice bucks during the rut. I killed a nice 130's 8 pointer that was out right at dusk. It was a great hunt! He was 5.5 years old.

Just got back from the lease and finally got a chance to talk with some of the other lease members that I did not know. Nobody has hunted predators on this place since they have been there (8 years). Most are duck hunters and there are some great ponds on this place. Biggest is a 4 acre pond. Sooo.. looks like it's time to go hunting for some coyotes.

I have been on a lease four years this year north of Bowie, between bowie and Nocona, and it's always been hit or miss for us. Last year I did get a decent buck though. LOTS of hogs, coyotes, and even turkey. Good luck to you!

You may only get one shot, so make it count!!
