Now that is been warmer I've started to see dragonflies again. I like going after them with my 22 and some shot shells. Does anyone else do this? I've always had a lot of fun this way.

I've done it with a shotgun when the bird hunting was slow.

A little harder using a BB gun, but fun.

I try to make it a welcoming environment for dragonflies. They eat mosquitoes.

I don't shoot them, but have a blast watching my border collie round them up when cattle work is slow and he has nothing else to do.

I don't shoot them. They are one of the most beneficial insects - eating gnats, mosquitoes, other small aggravating bugs!

True, they are beneficial. But the also make good bait and make the walk to the pond that much more fun!

Forgot to add that grasshoppers make good targets too....

That's great. One time out in a dove field the action got slow as the weather got hot. Dad took my BB gun and shot a wasp in midair, splitting it in two. I thought he was Wyatt Earp after that. This has been a couple of years ago. banana2

I go for larger game, field mice in the garage with a bb pistol. I live in the country and my house is literally in the middle of a hay field so mice are a constant battle. I used to bait them with peanut butter in a bottle cap, but those suckers are spooky and flee at the slightest movement! Now I put the peanut butter around the inside of the hole in a beer can. Once their heads are in the can eating the peanut butter they can't see you sight in on them. Big ones I use a high shoulder shot, small ones I head-shoot right through the can. I've pondered using the same technique on hogs with a 5 gallon bucket.
