Is this lake very good to duck hunt . Being new to the lake sceen i was just wondering . I have grew up hunting the rivers and creeks all along central Texas but have never hunted lakes . What can i expect , pro's and con's . Keep in mind i 'm not asking for others hot spots just wondering how is it out there ?

Judging from the last week or so of posts, Aquilla must be the most crowded lake in Texas...

I have heard some stories about some of the "locals" that hunt that lake. I'll stay away. Think deliverance.

I am bringing in 6 groups on Saturday. I intend to ferry them back and forth between the ramp and their spots. We intend to start moving out at 10 PM Friday night. Hope to see the rest of you out there!

which ramp are you using, I don't want us to get in each others way, I recently purchased one of the ferry boats from Port Aransas just to transport the hunters on lake Aquilla.

This is Marcstar...replying via my smart phone. I've already set up on my spot. There seems to be a few other groups of internet scouters setting up as well. I set up 25 yards from another guy...hope that's enough room...should be fine I guess. I'll email pics.

remember only skillet shoot into decoys to your left, the most amazing thing about an opening weekend on that lake is the continous spread of decoys that line the entire shoreline of the lake, no wonder all the ducks go there.

yes we have several packages

The THF waterfowl, which includes a JJ Bobble head action figure, transportation to and from your hunting grounds, a gazoo, and a ham sandwich.

The THF deer hunter which allows you to call a spoonie a mallard, a ringneck a canvasback and a scaup a redhead. Much like we see in the photographs of the 150" game cam deer when they are actually ground measured.

The THF off topic which provides all the above benefits plus a Tshirt that says I survived lake aquilla second split opening day 2008.

Let me know when yall have decided, the shuttle begins transportation tomorrow at noon

I just gone done scouting that lake. phew there are alot of people already camping out! I did however find some back water that was holding between 3000 and 15,000 green heads that no one had found yet. I threw out my dekes and a couple coleman lanterns to save my spot. if anyone wants to hunt this cove with me, just shoot me a pm, i think it can accomodate anywhere between 25 and 50 other hunters.

Seth, can i just purchase the JJ Kent bobble head? i dont need the ferry ride, i am paddling the canoe across the lake, and i think a JJ bobble head would be a good inspiration so I dont get tired.

did you want the mallard mullet JJ bobble head with kung fu grip or the Cosmic Crow Ninja JJ bobble head with optional indian head dress, which is made of real native Texas greater grackle tail feathers?

Im in for the "off topic" I want the shirt. Hey is there room for a kayak on the ferry, Id like to load it up, and then paddle down a little further so I don't get shot.

If you would like we can put you in the diamond package which allows you to hook your kayak to the boat with a quick release clasp and when we see some ducks you just release your legal and shoot. We will be going back and forth all day so I'll just pick you up on the next pass, that sound like a good deal?
