If you were limited to Wal Mart to buy a scope what would you buy? I live in a small town, not too small actually but limited on where to buy guns and supplies. Two pawn shops, one small gun shop with weird hours and of course Wal Mart. Wal Mart has scopes that are around 99-199 bucks and some cheapies as well. I will never buy a Tasco Bucksight again but would still go cheap again. I will be buying for centerfire rifles. Thanks

There are a lot more choices on Walmart's web site. You can pick what you like and have it shipped to your local store.

Go to the gunshop and look through what they have; see if you like anything. Then, if you are still looking to go with something inexpensive, go online and buy a Vortex Crossfire or Vortex Diamondback from SWFA or Camerland New York. SWFA is a Texas company, has several people on this site and gives discounts to members here.
Thanks, Rich

Internet purchases aside, and having no idea what the end goal of the rifle is, walking into my local Walmart with that budget for a general purpose scope I'd pluck a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 out of their case most likely.

There is a cool place called the internet that you can put your credit card number into, and a scope ranging from $50 to $5,000 will show up on your doorstep Seriously I would suggest getting a Nikon at Walmart.

You may be able to find a better selection at Walmart.com, then go to Walmart customer service and pay cash to order it shipped locally. Assuming no credit card is the issue.

If Wally World was my only choice, I'd fore go the scope and shoot myself.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

If you have access to the forum you have access to any scope your heart desires that you can afford or put on credit.
If you have WM gift cards then use them on gas and save your gas money for your scope.

If having no credit card is the issue, as mentioned earlier, just buy a pre-paid Visa "gift card" at the check-out line of most grocery stores for the amount you need and use that for on-line purchase. Just a thought.

I'd go Nikon buckmaster as well.
