What spotlights does everyone use to varmit hunt with? I have a few and I'am looking to buy a new one. Looks like most mfg. are going to rechargable style. I have an optronics varmit light that is mounted on my gun. I'am looking for a hand held to spot with.

re-chargies suck...we use the q-beams & i forgot the other...we use red & amber lenses....we also have a pigtail clip so that you can just use a charged up batter in the bed of the truck rather then running it OFF you truck...extra long cord helps too

I understand all of that. But what brand. If its not rechargable it is getting hard to find.

+1
have used q-beam for years. great spot lights. i also agree withe lesser 500, 000 candle power. i have a 1 million cp qand have 2 red lens to tone it down a little/ think it is too much. i use my trolling motor battery as well in the bed of the truck. if you hook it to your truck battery, make sure you have some one who can come pick u up. been there, done that, bought the t shirt....that sux when you battery is dead out in the middle of no where. and yes i have done this several times... before freakin cell phones!!! when you just hoofed it to the nearest house and hoped they didnt shoot you when yo knocked on the door to borrow the real phone!!!

Cyclops 3.5 mil comes with red lense. Can be ordered from Cabelas $25. Never had the light bother a varmint coming in and here around Ft. Stockton, it's nice to be able to see more than 100 yds.

There is nothing wrong with a rechargable spot light, just make sure it is one that can be used while plugged in (some can't be). They usually come with plugs for the wall, cig lighter and battery clips.

psycho has a point there. terrain palys a big part in it. some if the cedar breaks that i hunt you cant see tht far, thats why i choose to dim down, but if i could see a ways then i might go to a stronger light. even with the 1 mil i have i can see 200 yds at times.

Q-beam varmint special is a good light I have one that is 8 years old and it works great.
However, I currently use LiteForce lights. They are lighter weight and just an all around better light. You can get them handhold or gun mount. I prefer the 170 model but the 140 works well too. They are a bit pricier than the Q-beam but I think they are well worth it. Just my .02

I have the cyclops 3.5mil also and works great, it's recharagable and has a wide beam switch and a low beam switch, and came with a red lens. Has a cord to charge at home and one to charge/use from a cig lighter/power point in the truck.
Works great and wassn't that expensive.

I hunt wide open fields and 500,000 aint no good. You'd have to wait till they got right up to the truck to shoot them. I use a 2 million and don't have problems, just don't put the light directly on them. Keep it above them until you shoot

I use a 500,000 Q beam without a red lense.. and it works fine... Just don't shine the light right on them.... Shine it above them and the outside halo will light up there eyes just fine... red lense seems to restrict my light too much.

Man yall use some big light you tryin to burn the hair off or what? You can pick up a set of eyes 200 yards off with a AA flashlight.I use a q beam varmit special 200,000 which is plenty of light, use a red lense and when you get em range pop it off and let the air out of em.
You've come to take my guns? Ok just you....by yourself.

I use a Golight remote controlled spotlight (5,000,000 candlelight) with red lense hooked to a Optima Deep Cycle Battery. Check it out here: Golight Turn it on or off and put the beam where you like from up to 50 yards away from your set up. It also mounts to the truck for mobile operations. In the thick briars and brush we hunt in, you need all the light you can get.
