Any ideas where I can find the model number and cross reference the serial number for age? It was given to me as a gift and don't know anything about it.

open up the cylinder and look on the frame. There should be a model number and a - another number, such as a 10-5. The serial number could be in the same area or on the grip frame between the wood stocks.

S/N on bottom of grip frame, model number on frame in front when you open the cylinder.

Also look for a capital N stamped on face of cylinder. That N indicates factory nickel plate...

Sweet piece

Model 13-3 with an N stamped on the cylinder. Is this collectible should I keep or sell. Doesn't even look like it's been fired.

Nice gun. There were a ton of model 10's made so I doubt it is considered rare but any S&W revolver is worth keeping.

One quick note, be careful on cleaning agents. Hoppes No 9 can cause flaking should it get under the nickle finish.

Shoot your new handgun, without the original box it has lost much of its value as a collectible. Great gun to tote around, or to leave on the bedstand.

Do a search on Gun Broker or Guns America on your pistol. They are bringing premium prices . I've been buying up all I can lately. Keep it
