Folks,

Does anybody know where some public land in Arkanasas can be accessed so we can do a duck hunt in the timbers?

I feel like one of God's chosen people, having had the opportunity to share, with many fine companions, these varied and lovely realms of our natural world. - Fred Bear

If you take a boat it cant have a motor that exceeds 25 Hp in the bayou meto. All the public refuges have strict restrictions so read them first. And scout first before take off in the dark, its easy to get lost. Bring a gps, good luck

Bring an extra set of tires for your vehicle and trailer, they don't take kindly to out of staters. Lots of rules and even more hunters with even bigger egos.

There is tons of public timber in Arkansas. As to which tract you choose, good luck. I also think that there are many walk-in areas that are overlooked because most people want the thrill of running the timber in their boat. Either way, there are plenty of opportunities. Jump on arkansashunting.net and ask the guys where to go. They should be helpful.

I'd go to NE Arkansas (where I'm from). Sunken Lands, Black River, St. Francis River, Cache River (federal), Bayou De View...all good places. Cache is one of the largest and least hunted but all of them are great public locations and provide good timber hunts. Any of them are huntable during the week...on the weekends you'll be in for some elbow rubbin'

Let me know if you have any specific questions.
