Eat at Blackbeards. Good food and a lot of it.

I agree. Make sure to go when it's busy so you can sit out on the front patio/deck and order some drinks while you wait for your table. Good times...

Try VRBO for lodging, lots of options and lots of reviews.

I think the Mirimar is the cheapest beachfront place to stay.

My 14 & 16 year old and I went just south of Port Aransas last year, stayed at the Casa Condominiums, between Port A & Mustang.
It was right on the beach, nice & reasonable. White sand beach, nice water, we enjoyed it, going back again this year.

Good Luck!

Stub, Padre does tend to have better lodging deals than South Padre for sure. Intel from growing up in Corpus for 15+ years. That said, the beaches in South Padre are quite a bit nicer IMO.

For food I would go to dirty Al's or daddy's good food and the lines are worth the wait. I think Louie's is overrated Clayton's beach bar and grill is also fun

Stay at the Pearl. Right on the beach just walk out the back door. It's not cheap but well worth it.

DQ, its been 30 years since I have been down to S. Padre, 6 hour drive from Dallas to Port A. is plenty for this old dog to take his kiddos for a few days. Have fun cheers
