Does anyone have any idea about what a fur buyer would pay for a red or gray fox that isn't too shot up?

seems like the turn out is going to be good, the other host and i will have to get together and figure it out, each of us are getting alot of calls. got 4 today, and i know gabe and danny got a few calls today also. Had a call today from an out of state guy wondering if it was ok if he buys a 5 day non-resisdent licence so he can enter. As long as hes legal by texas law then by all means. thought it was pretty cool that someone out of state is going to hunt it. So us texas guys better show him up. i want to whisper this so i don't jinks myself, but with the amount of calls and e-mails we've been getting i wouldn't be surprized if we had 40+ teams. but i'm going to go out on a limb and say we will at least have 20

the results are in my buddy's truck, so i have to go off memory for now. Also left my camera too. pictures and names soon to be posted. In the mean time, here is what i remember.... Results: 20 teams Payed 1st $1200 and 2nd $800 1st place= 215 points, with 5 dogs, 2 cats, 1 grey fox, and 1 coon. 2nd place= 200 points, with 8 dogs Heavy dog= 42lbs Heavy Cat= 21.12 Heavy grey=10.7 With the wind, and full moon, it was some hard hunting. I'm a little surprized that we had 14 teams sign up at check-in knowing it would be terrible calling weather. Special thanks Brian Doty for helping with the judging, Don(our poly guy), and all the teams that entered.

We got hammered. Wind never let up all day and all night we shot 5 greys. I knew it would be tough but that was one of the worst Ive had. Congrats to the winners.

Congrats to the winners. The wind where we were was all over the place. We only saw one coon as we pulled up to the ranch and he ran off before we could get ready. We also saw a ton of rabbits. It was a very hard hunt for us and we never even got a shot off. We had a good time together but decided to just pack up and go home and decided not to go to the weight in. Maybe next time!!
Congrats to the winners again!!!

two fox were brought in and one was a kit. we didn't even weigh them, i put that the one weighed 10.7 but i might have over heard the wrong weight. (they were off to the side). you might have won big fox.
If we wouldn't have hosted it, we prob would have went home too.... lol. the wind almost blew us off the stand several times. Oh, i forgot to thank Jeff Thomason for helping at registration. Where did you guys hunt?

Im sure I had one bigger but at that point I was just frustated with the wind. We made near 30 stands and didnt quit until 4 Sunday mornin. I just knew the wind would lay at anytime it just never did. I did learn a few things about calling with the full moon and the wind. The bad part was the first critter didnt show until 8 Saturday night after I figured a few things out it got better. The wind was just brutal.

No one brought any any red fox, and two teams entered the big red pot. So we had a vote on what to do with the $20 in that pot, and the teams agreed on spliting it among the other pots. I was waiting for someone to that...

They were a group of younger guys, maybe in early 20's. I think some of them are actually from crowley, but they hunted in cleburne... then again we always run into them in the cleburne contest, so i'll have to check on that for you. Oh i know they go by the name Texas Predator Mafia. (they have the jackets and decals on there trucks)
