My dog will be going here this weekend. I have met the trainer, seen his dogs work, and have met a few people and hunt tests that speak highly of him, but just wondering if anyone here on the forum has any personal experiences them? Would love to hear how your training turned out.

Thanks

I cannot say that I have had BYTK's train my dog but I have boarded my dog their and Buck did work on some stuff with him. It was only for 2 weeks in the summer. I have trained with Buck on multiple occasions and have talked to a few people who were happy with the training he did with their dogs. Buck is a good trainer who is honest and hard working.

Thanks Jason. First time I met him was when Blue got his NA and then we were braced together at my last akc test. I like him alot. He gave me a quick tip with heel at that akc test and it helped immediately.

Cool. If you saw his dogs and liked what you saw that's a pretty good indication that he will work out for you. I've seen some trainers handle dogs at hunt test that made me say "there is no way in hell I would let them train my dog." So if the dogs looked good and looked like they were in good spirits then it will probably work out.

Sounds like you have a nice young dog for him to work with.

I'm taking my dog as well tomorrow, going to do the starter pup training and plan to follow up with the 3 month program. Looks like we will have a full report here sooner than later.

It sounds like a good plan to me.

Thanks huck. He's going in for advanced training So I'm pretty excited to see how high we can reach.

I found out about him on the web, I gave him a call and was impressed with how open and adaptive he is to training. He gave me pointers with training I could do before Briles got to him and he works with a limited number of dogs at a time. I kept digging online and only found positive information.

I did and you're right. He has a great setup there. We did some live bird work and went over all of Briles' training. Great guy, easy to work with, and I look forward to seeing my dog's progress.

I picked up Briles from Buck at Backyard Training Kennels today and I must say I am completely impressed with my experience. He had Briles for a little over a month at 6 months and he was able to come, stay, heel, and steadied on point (this part is not guaranteed for the one month puppy intro, but he moved into it and Briles picked it up. Other things included introduction to guns, birds birds and more birds. I was also impressed with how easy Buck was to work with/get ahold of. We worked Briles on pigeons today and went over everything he had been worked on before we left.

Also, iliketohunt I saw your Vizsla too, great looking dog!

Our Brittany (7 months old) is there now, he's been there 2 weeks and we went to visit him this weekend. He is already able to come, stay, heel and stays on point. So far it's been a wonderful experience and I can't wait to pick him up in 2 weeks. The facilities are excellent and Buck is a great guy. I would highly recommend BYTK to anyone looking for a great place to get their dog trained. It's gonna be a long 6 months waiting for bird season!

Don't let a young dog sit up for 6 months. You need to keep working with him in the off season.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
