Well, after pondering the matter a few years longer than I needed to I got my round tuits stacked up.
Finally getting around to putting together my small caliber smooth bore flinter for the all around everything gun.
Inletting the lock mortice now. The 31" long octagonal to round fifty bore barrel is ready to brown.
The buffalo horn for the butt plate and schnabel is in hand. Haven't decided on the right look for the trigger guard yet (it might end up buffalo horn too!). Will need to complete drilling the ram rod hole to the needed length to avoid having it stick out in front of the muzzle.
This little rascal is going to be light enough you could point it one handed if you wanted to.
To make the shot wads I'll just use the 1/2" and 9/16" gasket punches (think egg cartons and orange juice boxes). For anything needing serious killing, well, round ball out of a fifty is over kill on white tail with a 24" barrel, much less 31".
This little critter getter is going to be the go to do-it-all house gun.
