I just felt like taking a moment to show off my newest little toy. While i have several rifles, I've never felt the "need" to have an AR. However, as a self-proclaimed history buff I always wanted one that look liked the original M16. Look would have it my good friend had an upper with a fixed handle and some other parts he gave me for free. Fast forward a couple years of slowly gathering parts (so the wife wouldn't notice). I finally had everything. It's a DPMS upper and bcg, seekins lower, hand gaurd and stock (which has a compartment in the stock, too cool) are off an original M16 that i got from a USO group, CMC trigger, BCM 20" barrel, Wilson combat tube and flash hider. Realistically this will probably be my one and only AR. I figured the best way to stand out is to has one like the original.

I think I have an old AR Stoner 20 rounder that I used to make holsters with. That's pretty much only thing I used it for. I'll see if I can find it.

They didn't have Wilson Combat flashhiders back then either. I think DPMS makes a legit one for pretty cheap.

Is it a slick side or does it have the FA and dust cover door? I like the older representations. Here is my "old school" A2 I did a while back, modeled after what we had in the period when I was in the USAF (mid 80's). I'd kinda like to do an old A1 build now.

Nice. Just watch out, they tend to multiply in the safe.

I keep looking to get a 20" upper with carry handle and pin it to my carbine lower. Best of both worlds.

Very nice gun, I was thinking about doing a build however, FNH just released a model called the FN-15... Two models actually, one is modeled after the M4 the other is modeled after the M16... I think I am going to buy the one based off the M16

I saw some of these built by FN for right around $1k. I spent a little less than that overall and even ended up with a CMC trigger but got some parts free. If I would have known this existed before, I may have changed my mind. Regardless, I'm totally happy with the way it turned out.
