I think the topic of Waders has been hashed would about 400 times over the last few years but we have not had one darn thread, that I'm aware of, on wader pants.

I know lots of guys will just run with jeans under their waders. About 6 years ago I won some Drake wader pants at a Delta event. They are XLs and even though I was not skinny they were still big on me...with a belt they worked but not that I've dropped damn near 40lbs I think I might have to bit the bullet and actually buy some.

The Drake ones really are pretty great...they are made from the same material as the wader jackets so they are kind of water resistant up to a degree. They are also very warm and insulated which is important for me on cold days because I only wear breathable waders Neoprene are for you yankees up north in the colder weather places.

I also very much like the little legging straps that go under your feet that keep the legs from riding up under the waters.

With that in mind what wader pants would you suggest? I'll probably be wearing these for the next 20 years so I honestly don't mind popping a few bucks down if they are good pants.

Water resistant? I would not call them waders if only water resistant. I guess you would wear rubber boots with them?

I'm talking about wader pants not waders. Wader pants are the pants you wear under waders. Like Wader Jackets they are not waders.

Man I just wear fleece pants under my waders. Nice and warm. When it's really cold I add a base layer between my skin and the fleece.

I read recently when I was trying to find waders though that jeans are very hard on waders, especially breathable due to the abrasion. So I started wearing nylon fishing pants under breathables when it's hot. Of course if you ask Wayne, you could just go tighty-whitey in that situation.

well played Marcos

I just wear blue jeans unless its real cold and I have some lined pants. I have had a pair of drakes or several years but the zipper broke. I still wore them but got tired of everyone telling me my fly was open, so i got some fleece lined "work" pants from cabelas.

Take them ho's up to a cleaners and have them put in a new zipper. Probably cost you $15-20 but if they are good pants then it's worth it.

Yeah I was thinking about something like that. Do they have pockets? I like to be able to take my waders off and wear whatever pants I have on under them into whatever dining establishment we descend on after a hunt and not look like I'm in pajamas.

And yeah Dave I could see how jeans could wear more on waders.

They do kinda have a pajama look to them, Mine have a wallet pocket that zips and of coarse the elastic bands on the feet to keep them from riding. I wear mine in public after every hunt and have never gotten any weird looks other than the normal PETA looks. But that's expected. IF I can find them ill post the link

They don't have mine but these are the new models of mine, with front pockets and on sale. Might get me another pair just for that price

I have a pair of $10 sweatpants from walmart that work just fine. Warm and comfortable, and the ducks don't mind that they aren't designer. I started wearing them because I hated wearing jeans under my waders. I never knew what I was missing!

Wing Supply has their Drake wader pants on sale right now. I just got a pair to wear with my hip boots. I think they are $40 or something. And they run BIG.

I've got the Cabela's one and the Columbia ones with the Omni Heat. Those paired with my 5mm waders and I'm normally sweating my balls off unless it is in the 20's. Normally, I just wear some long johns with some gym shorts. I get funny looks at the spot where I get my morning coffee, but IDGAF.
