My dad and I are looking at purchasing some property near Green valley, Wi.. Anyone ever hunt up there?? Its priced right. I have had 11 trail cameras up for the last 45 days.. Have a huge number of deer but have not seen anything really big.. Just wondering what to expect in that area..

Property is 460 acres.. Here are a few pics we have gotten so far..

Thanks,

Chris

I haven't hunted there but you might want to play with this site http://www.wi-buck-bear.org/RecordWhiteTail/whitetaildeer_Results.php the county would be Shawano. You also might want to look at this new report http://dnr.wi.gov/news/BreakingNews_Lookup.asp?id=3092

Thanks nsmike... I knew baiting is outlawed that is why we just moved alot of snow for the deer to be able to get to the grass a little easier in front of the cameras..

I was more concerned that you knew you were close to a CWD hotspot. Play with the record book link there are apparently some good deer taken there.

Excellent hunting, but make sure you fence and post the no trespassing signs. Short gun season. State wildlife agencies are out of control and stupid, just read what they did to the deer herd near this area and in other areas to deal with their understanding of CWD. Which is no understanding what so ever.

I'm not familiar with the east part of the state (Wisconsin), but I know across the Mississippi river from my property (Minnesota) the real estate taxes are HIGH! Also, the bear hunt is on a lottery system that is around 4-7 years to draw. Crazy split up deer seasons with the previously mentioned cwd scare going on. Good fishing for salmon, walleye, & big muskie on lake Michigan though.

That's beautiful country and plenty of fish and game. They can have the winters though.

You should have good deer numbers there. There will be good bucks around during the rut. They're like ghosts most of the time. I hunt a couple of hours NW of there & the wolves/tough winters have devastated the herd up by the lake. You should be ok for a while yet.
