Would you rather have 2 medium sized safes or one big safe?
Why?

I have one big safe. It keeps everything in one location and is easier to fit into a room feather having to find two spots. And at my age I don't need to try and remember which safe has what. One other thing, if someone did break into your house and wanted to remove your gun safe, it would much harder to remove a big one than two smaller ones.

Was in the same quandary last year. I decided to go with 2 mediums. One for ammo mags accessories etc. the other for guns. But as usual I need another one soon. I've been looking at the superior ironside 95. One big bad mother!! Just a real hefty price tag!

Buy the biggest safe you can afford...make sure you bolt it down.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I'm planning on 2 mediums. Easier for me to find places for 2 medium safes than it is for 1 big safe.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I purchased the biggest safe I could afford and not lose my wife and kids over the deal. Best decision I ever made.

Why wouldn't you? Assuming you had the space, of course. Someone would just a quick steal mags and ammo if that is what they can grab. What I'm having trouble understanding, and this isn't just coming from this thread, is why someone would not bolt down their safe; be it a gun safe or other.

I bolted mine down after some heavy deliberations. My reasoning was if they can move this heavy sob then they can have it. It ain't going to be a smash and grab that is going to get that safe out of the house. Also, if they plan and are good enough to get a safe out of the house....then they can get in that safe even if it is bolted down.
That was my 2 cents.
As for the vote...I'm having a hard time with this decision right now. I can see the next few gun purchases ahead will put me so full it'll be a massive pain to jockey them around. I'm leaning toward just upgrading to one big one....just so I don't have to figure out where to put 2.

I don't have the space. I guess that is what I am getting at. The space in my safe that ammo would take up is more valuable than the price of the ammo. I agree you should bolt it down.

I keep the ammo and mags in the safe for one simple reason. Kids! They are young and inquisitive. Also if lord forbid, there's a fire, rounds won't be popping off everywhere. I understand that a lot of my rounds will still go through the safe, but if I can slow them down or change trajectory then I will.

Sorry for stealing your thread. kids are a good reason. bullets in fire wouldn't do anything but maybe put your eye out. No barrel to build up pressure.

Just a thought, I did not want to have a big production in moving and installing a safe so I opted for 2 that I could move myself...I am now on my 3rd but would still do it the same way for convenience and ability to fit into closets.
