This is my father hunting in
Big Bend in 1942. No camo but a dress shirt and tie. The rifle is a Savage 99 in 300 Savage with iron sights. I still have the rifle.

Great picture. Thanks. What is the story behind the tie and shirt? Cool cheers

That was just the way they dressed in 1942. He wore the same outfit working cattle on the ranch. If you couldn't afford a dress shirt and tie then you had to wear your shirt buttoned to the top button. In those days a shirt was underwear so you generally wore some kind of coat in public. I never saw my Father wear anything but a coat and tie until the day he died.

Awesome picture. Thank you for sharing. And to think everyone is buying this expensive camo and scent blocker when all you need is your Sundays best.

I have one of those Savage 99s from my grandfather - really neat lever guns!

I wish they still made the Savage 99. Great rifle. I shoot my fathers occasionally and it is still as accurate as it was when he shot the deer in the picture.
