I have heard about adding carpet tack strips to the legs of feeders to stop them. Anyone have any luck with that/

Only 2 weeks ago I had near topped off my 55 gallon drum, so when I opened it up this morning I didn't expect to see too much corn gone (run it twice a day for 10 seconds)...imagine my surprise when I opened it up and could see the darn funnel at the bottom....

Twice a day, at 10 seconds each time is a LOT of corn. I believe the coons are just speeding that up. The coons are bad everywhere this year.

The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I killed 8 in September. I don't mind a few of them eating the corn, but they were taking over.

TX_Huntress, do you have a camera with a flash pointed at your feeder? And is your feeder a photocell type? The flash from a camera can set off a photocell type feeder. That may be where all your corn went. I know a man that had that happen. It wasn't until he went to his feeder one night and triggered the camera that he realized it was setting his feeder off. He had to move his camera.

Since I don't have a trapper's license I just shoot 'em and dump them. If I'd known that I would trap over 50 in less than a year I might have gone to the trouble of getting a license.

+1
As I stated in an earlier post, since I declared war on the coons the turkey population has boomed.

I had that problem a few months ago, and have solved that problem CHEAP. (Rat Bait) The one that comes in th eyellow squares, tied it to the feeder, they stole them, took it to there den and had a great weekend fiaasko, since them I havent seen them back...

There isn't a single allowable poison for raccoons except for licensed restricted-use pesticide holders and doing this on your own only will affect not only the species you attempt to control, but other non-target species as well.

Poisoning illegally will do nothing for our sport of hunting and trapping. Either do it legally or hire someone who knows what is legal and prohibited.

Google conibear traps and "bucket sets"... put about 4 of these at your feed and/or some leg hold traps.

Also, invite some trappers to your place. We are always looking for a place.

for coon traps I usually crack and egg and pour it in there and throw the egg shells on top.. or any cheap little cans of cat food work the best

Use a set-up like mine. The coons can't get to it. They can't climb the legs, and even if they can they can't reach the mechanism.
