Both good and bad. Fun to hunt with my daughter but this will be her last hunt as a youth. Anyway I'm just tagging along without any calls to offer minor coaching and follow her lead. She will be doing the calling and setup. Audrey plans not to harvest a bird unless it is a boss gobbler then we plan to have some sort of undecided taxidermy work done. Should be a fun weekend. Hope the wind is not blowing hard in the mornings.
Any of you all turkey hunting have a safe and fun time!

I'm planning on calling in my boy's first bird. We will miss youth weekend, but might make it opening weekend of general season.

Well now we know where some nice gobblers are sleeping tonight. Hopefully she can entice a fine one over the next two days.

Thanks guys! Those were smart phone pics posted this morning. Put some better ones up in the Photos section.
She patterned checked the shotgun last week and shot the turkey today with a 3" magnum 12 gauge turkey load. It's an Ithaca Turkeyslayer I've had for about 12 years. Kicks like a son of a gun but she dropped up with a head/neck shot at 30 yards. Audrey did a nice job handling that beast without flinching. She wanted to use that shotgun this time rather than her 20 gauge Beretta AL391 she uses for clays and other birds. Probably helps she has shot a couple of thousand shotgun rounds and boxes of shells through various rifles.
