I saw the post about the tire keeping the hogs around and thought I would share this trick.

I have not tried it but you may have heard about it.

You dig a 3 to 4 foot hole with post hole diggers and fill it up with corn then poor cool aid on top. Supposedly they will stick around until they have rooted up enough ground around the hole to reach the bottom and consume all the corn. I could imagine the size of the hole after they got finished..

Sounds like it would work

Yep - it works great! I sprinkle diesel over the corn.

And yeah, there will be a pond there soon.

you dont have to pour anything on the corn either. /when you dig the hole put corn, dirt, corn, dirt, corn, dirt. then put some corn on top of the hole.

This would be a good time of year. We did this last July and like to killed ourselves digging it.

It worked though and is a good way to make a new watering hole.

I always buy a 6 pack of cheap beer and pour in there. Works good, but like others have said get ready for a big hole later on.

You bet. I don't know the cost of a gallon of GoJo, but if it's cheaper than diesel, I'll try it.

GoJo is about 10 dollars per gallon, we use it here at our shop

Dry Jello mix is really cheap and works great too. All you need is the smell to bring them in.

Is the diesel and gojo just to keep the deer out of it?? I thought the diesel was just to keep the deer out of hog traps not actually an attractant

No, really, they love the smell of diesel...for some reason.

But, like I said, it keeps other animals off while it attracts the hogs. I wouldn't lie to ya.
