Hey guys,

Need a little advice. What is the best commercial slate/glass pot call you have had luck with? I'm looking to add another one to my arsenal. Currently I have a primos ol Betsy that I have had decent success at calling Toms in with. I'm looking for one around the $50 range and under. I need a good pot call that can call Toms in from a distance.

David Halloran Crystal Mistress is probably one of the best mass produced crytal calls, followed closely by a Woodhaven Cherry Classic Crystal.

There are lots of good ones out there, do not overlook the Aluminum calls also. I use them more than the other pot calls on windy days when wanting to get loud with a pot call. My favorite one I haven't seen in several years in a store is from M.A.D.D but there are several others that work very well. Played with one from Cabela's last week and it worked very well. The David Holloran aluminum call is a very good one.

Haven't used any conditioning on the Al calls after the first conditioning, just a little box call chalk applied to the surface works wonders for hitting those close up quite notes or getting serious volume for calling in the wind.

I have had good success with a Primos Power crystal.

+1 for the David Halloran crystal mistress. Just got mine 2 weeks ago. I emailed David and asked what he would recommend for south Texas Rios and he recommended the mistress. He then got the slate underneath the crystal engraved with my name. Will come with 2 strikers, ebony and diamond wood. Sounds amazing.
