I picked this up today at the local pawn shop, I paid 330.00 out the door, came with a nikon scope and sling. It looks like its never been fired, Im sure it has but it is very clean. Looks new to me. It was in my affordable price range and thinking it should have enough stopping power for anything I would hunt with it which would most likely be hog and deer. And yea it was a impulse buy, I liked it and had to have it.

That sounds like a good deal, and the 25-06 is a good round. You should love it.

You got a good deal, especially with that medium range scope. Its my favorite caliber to shoot both up in WI and down here in TX. I had a Mossberg 4x4 in 300Win Mag. It shot lights out even with a horrible trigger. I do have mild regret in trading it until I remember the recoil of the skeleton synthetic stock. Enjoy your new rifle

Thank you guys, I just went and bought a box of ammo for it and holy smokes that stuff is HIGH! 41.99 for a box of Barnes Vortex 100 gr. tipped tsx bt, Thats all academy had in stock, infact it was the only box they in stock. Im assuming theres got to be something cheaper out there to shoot at the gun range.

Yes, there is much cheaper ammo out there.

I don't have any experience with one but I have a friend who owns one and his broke with only 10 or so rounds through it. Could have been a lemon for all I know. On his the bolt latch (would you call it a latch? good question) broke and the bolt wouldn't stay in place, I had never seen anything like it. Again maybe just a lemon, in which case I would say all companies have lemons however, the number of lemons said company has defines the product that they produce... Just my 2 cents.. Hope yours works out fine!

my 25.06 seems to really like two rounds.
it shoots the cheap remington core lokt 100gr at sub 1" and it also shoots the hornady sst superformance 117gr at sub 1"
i hunt with the hornady rounds now because they are faster and have more knockdown for aoudad and other critters.

the hornady you can find for less than $30 most of the time and the core lokt is closer to $20 range

Stuff my dad said in the deer blind

"I can dive deeper and come up drier"
"did you do that?"

Wow, great rifle. I am jealous of the deal you got, I need to start shopping at pawn shops! Hah, but seriously, that is a great rifle anyone to shoot; good gun to teach the new hunter/shooter with the low kick. There is much cheaper ammo, I was just at bass pro today and saw a box of winchester soft cores for 22 I believe. I check them out because I am between buying a 25-06 or a 270.

You can buy Hornady American Whitetail 117 gr spire point ammo for $21.99 at academy (when in stock). Wichita Falls academy had quite a few boxes. I just bought an adl 25-06 and picked up a box of the hornady and a box of federal 85 nosler bt <---$31

I agree with the sighting it in with the corelokt 100 gr. Very accurate for me. Then I switched to the 117 gr SST. also very accurate. I have had good hunting results with the SST's out of my 25-06

I went to the gun range today, I shot 20 rounds thru it. I bought a bore site and sited it in myself this morning, at 50 yards im hitting the target but not in tight groops. I think my biggest mistake was not taking enough ammo with me??? Ive never sited in a rifle before so its basiclly trial and errer for me at this point.Im close to bulls eye but not quiet there. It did shoot very well though and felt very comfortable to shoot.I look forward to putting more rounds down range with it soon.

Yep, if you don't have a way to lock down your rifle, you can eat up some ammo sighting it in.

I almost bought a siting in and gun smithing vise today but they were fairly pricy at acdemy so I just bought the tipton gun vise that was 48.99 to keep at the house but I might need to look into investing in some sort of locking devise to hold it down to sight it in with.Or find a fellow TFF member to let me borrow theres one day while we shoot together at the range hint hint lol. Any and all help would be GREATLY apreciated.

The leads aren't cheap, but it's a buy once cry once deal. Luckily my brother in law has one.

Really, anything that gives you a dead steady rest will do fine. The lead sled is just the best option.
